here's the thing:
there's a bar next to where I work that opens up at 4:30pm.

I keep drinking there from 4:30-6:10 and catching the 550 to Mercer Island P&R, then the 6:40 bus home... and then I typically doze off (pass out? depends on the night) or just play on the computer (YAY for drod: http://www.caravelgames.com - it looks like its a hack game, but really it's a pure puzzle game and with a "users can contribute new content" aspect, it's nigh infinite gameplay for cheap) or play on the computer ( http://www.puzzlepirates.com - all your favorite "puzzle" games with a "social" aspect - why waste hours on Bejeweled, when you could play the same game while making yourself and other people "rich"? the best MMO ever because there's no "levels" - your skill is always your level and vice versa).

so I don't get out a lot. either I'm too drunk to drive, or I'm just tired, or I'm occupied ... or all three.

bleah. I need to stop dropping by said bar after work. I need to spend less time gaming. and I need to get out more. Especially now that several of my older friends lives just a ferry ride away...

Here is a list of AA meetings in Seattle. This is what helped me when I was drinking rather than living.

but I currently believe I go to the bar because of proximity and social helplessness, rather than an addiction to alcohol. plus I'm never going to go to a non-secular AA. I just can't philosophically stand there and proclaim jack-squat about a "higher power"

indeed! :) now that we are starting to feel mostly civilized (well, as civilized as we get!) we will try harder to lure you out and drag our islander butts in. it would be great to see more of you.

well, I thought you were moving to a nearby island, but I see now that you're more like a 90-minute-drive+ferry (so 3 hours? if I time it right?) islander, so it's less of a evening-trip and more of a day trip. pbth.
