I lost power for 64.5 hours. It was incredibly cold. Some people in the area still haven't gotten power back, but it's in the thousands now (as opposed to the million or so people who were powerless a week ago).

Living without heat, without refridgerated food, without light, without network, without tv, without computer games... it was boring and cold. I slept through a lot of it, but spent the rest of the time thinking too much about what it is to have friends. I miss Austin.

I feel like all I have here is work. Dave and Belen moved "close," but managed to make themselves isolated by having a limited access route to their island. CM is further away. I don't know Alex well enough to just drop in on him yet... yah. pretty much alone. blah.

Eek! I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you had cat-warmth at least. {hug}

yes. I spent most of weekend cuddled with Miss Kitty. If I had lived alone, I might have gone to work and slept in the conference rooms (which have some nice futon/couch things that aren't entirely uncomfortable), but I actually worried (based on the firetruck activity Friday in my apartment complex, and some news reports) that a neighbor might try a "home heating solution" that would endanger MK, and I wanted to around to evacuate her if things got "hot". Paranoid, perhaps. Well, in hindsight, there wasn't the slightest instance to be worried about... but I tend to bet on "people being morons" more often than not.

I think this was definitely a case of "better safe than sorry". People ARE morons when it comes to temporary alternate heating solutions.
